This is the last Will and Testament of me, Matthew Grimes, of Tatton Mill, Parish of Rostherne and County of Chester, Miller made and published this twenty ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine. First I will and direct that all my just debts, funeral expenses and the charges of proving and carrying into execution this my last Will and Testament be fully paid and discharged. And my will and mind is that my dearly beloved Wife Helen Grimes (in case she survives me) shall and will enjoy the benefit and use of all my household Goods, furniture and chattels with all and every thing of whatsoever kind or nature the same may be and in my possession at the time of my decease for her own sole and separate use during her natural life. I also give and bequeath with my said Wife Helen Grimes all my ready money, money out upon interest, upon whatsoever security or securities the same may be in trust so that she may receive all interest due therefrom and at all times whensoever the said interest becomes due for her own separate use that is I bequeath to her the whole of my personal estate upon trust so that she shall and will receive the benefits therefrom during her natural life, and at her decease my will and mind is that my Household goods and Chattels entrusted to her care and charge , with all money and monies then remaining or belonging to my estate, be divided equally and equitably amongst my several children as may be then living; Margaret, the wife of Thomas Bradshaw weaver of the township on Hinton, county of Lancaster, Matthew Grimes, labourer now residing in Manchester, county of aforesaid, Sarah the wife of Thomas Chamberlain, Gunsmith now living in Birmingham, Mary Grimes, spinster residing as servant in Salford, Rebecka Grimes, spinster in servitude at Knutsford and Mark Grimes, Tailor township of Mere, county of Chester, to be divided equally and equitably amongst my several children, in a quiet peaceable and equitable manner so that no one shall have reason to complain that he or she has not had his or her just and equitable share thereof; and thereby constitute and approval my dearly beloved Wife, Helen Grimes, Executrix (female executor!) and my son, Mark Grimes, Tailor in the township of Mere and John Galleymore in the township of aforesaid Schoolmaster both in the parish of Rosthern of county of Chester to be Executrix and Executors to this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made. I do publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness thereof I the said testator Matthew Grimes have subscribed my name and set my seal the said twenty ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine.

This will was witness by John Galleymore and George Galleymore.
