MILITARY FUNERAL

The sad death of Hubert Edward James, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. E. James, of Sandhurst, at the early age of 32 years, has caused much sympathy for his young widow. Deceased, who belonged to the 21st Late Empress of India Lancers, served his time in India, and had only been home about twelve months. He had been for some time at the Peppard Sanatorium where he died on October 29th. The funeral took place at St. Michael’s Church on Wednesday, November 3rd, much respect and sympathy being shown. The coffin was carried from the deceased’s parents’ home to its last resting place on a gun carriage covered with the Union Jack, and the “Last Post” was sounded over the grave. The service was conducted by the Rector, the Rev. Randall Parsons. The chief mourners were the bereaved widow, Mr. nd Mrs. E. James (parents), Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Mansbridge, Mrs. Champion, Mrs. Brown (sisters), William and Charles James (brothers), Mrs. C. James (sister-iin-law), Mr. E. Bennett (brother-in-law), Mr. Candford and Mr. Morgan (ousins), Mr. W. James, Mr. J. Dean, Mr. W. Dean and Miss Dean. There was a large number of beautiful wreaths from Nance, Mother andDad, Brother Will and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, Lou and George, Charlie and Amy, Amy and George, Mark and Jack, Joan and John, “His comrades, troop yar, R.M.C.” “Sergt. Sherwood and old friends of his Regiment,” Sister Poultney, Harry, May and family, Pam and Mabel, Mum and Dad, Lill and Nell, Will, Mary and Dimple, Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Walter and Emily James, Mr. and Mrs. Annetts, Mrs. Sherwood and family, Mrs. Searle, etc.
