After the death of Henry in 1898, Jessie moved back to Kent with William, Randolph and Rose. She married Alfred Appleby on 23 October 1899 in Sutton-at-Home Parish Church. She and Alfred had a daughter in 1900, who was also named Jessie.

Jessie had known Alfred for some time, as prior to her marriage to Henry, he had lodged at her parents home, being the Foresters Arms, Sutton-at-home.
